1975 Jensen Interceptor
VIN # 23111723.
This car was first sold by San Francisco British Motors in 1975. It remained in the Marin County Area until 1978 when it was sold to a collector from South Dakota with only 2,100 miles on the clock. It then remained unregistered on the collector's showroom floor, only leaving for brief shows and always trailered.
In 2001 the owner decided to retire and sell his collection. It was purchased by K and D Restoration and shipped to Seattle. Even though the car seemed perfect with only 2,194 miles the rubber and leather were showing their age. No matter how well a car is cared for, just sitting takes its toll.
Over the next two years the following work was carried out by K and D:
Complete suspension rebuild - New stainless steel exhaust system - New stainless steel gas tank - Rebuilt the thermo-quad carburetor - New fuel pump - Removed engine and replaced fire wall covering - New fast wind starter - All new hoses, belts, senders, valves etc. - Recored radiator - Rebuilt complete brake system with stainless caliper pistons - New Michelin Z rated tires - Replaced all the beige leather interior with new hides special ordered from Connley to the original grain pattern and color - Replaced top with original color British ever flex vinyl and wool headliner.
Everything about this car was kept or redone to OEM standards and is as original as it was in the dealership in 1975. This however also means that no improvements have been made to make the car more reliable.
Finally the car is now back in California and has amazingly still only covered 3,300 miles from the day it left the factory and is surely the nicest original Interceptor anywhere in the world today.
